John Oxendine's view on the issues facing Georgia

Education

Putting our children first and preparing them for the 21st Century

A quality education system is one of the keys to a prosperous state. If Georgia is going to be the best state in the nation to raise a family and start a business, we must ensure that we put our children first by providing them with the best possible education.
As Governor, my approach to reforming education will subscribe to the following four principles:

 - Prioritize spending: spend more of our education dollars in the classroom

 - Ensure local control, flexibility, and accountability

 - Promote competition & choice

 - Better prepare our children for the 21st century

I am opposed to teacher furloughs and cuts because we can not afford to cut our frontline in education. Please see Points Six and Seven of my Contract with Georgia for more details.  Click here!
