Contract with Georgia

In April of 2009, I came out with my Contract with Georgia. The Contract is a reform plan to downsize government, scrap the income tax, and fix our infrastructure problems.

Government must tighten its belt. In order to help our economy get back on track and get Georgians back to work, state government must ensure its own fiscal house is in order. This means that we not only need less government, but we also need to establish a statewide culture of transforming government to do more with less and focus on fostering job creation.

Tax Reform

Enforcing fiscal responsibility and trimming our State’s budget are important because of the detrimental impact excessive spending can have on jobs and economic development. In addition to doing more with less, state government must improve its tax relationship with residents and businesses.

Transportation

Transportation is more than a quality of life issue, it directly impacts our economy. As Governor, I will support prioritizing transportation infrastructure that provides a long-term return on investment and directly benefits economic activity for our state.

Water

A reliable water supply is not only an issue for all of us as residents; it is a key ingredient to job growth in Georgia as well. I support a multi-faceted approach to solving our water issues.

Advocate a Culture of Life

I firmly believe that life is the most precious of all gifts. Due to my staunch belief that innocent human life must be protected from conception to death, I have been endorsed by Georgia Right to Life.

2nd Amendment

The right to bear arms is one of the most fundamental freedoms afforded to law-abiding citizens in our country. The 2nd Amendment ensures that citizens have the ability to protect themselves and stand up against tyranny. I pledge to firmly defend this right for all Georgians.

Immigration

Illegal immigration is a huge problem nationally and impacts us directly here in Georgia. If the federal government isn’t going to secure the borders and enforce their own laws, then as Governor, it is my responsibility to uphold all laws including illegal immigration.
