Oxendine on Judge Sotomayor's Nomination

I believe Supreme Court nominees must not engage in legislating from the bench, but must interpret the laws as they have been written and passed.The Senate deserves an appropriate amount of time to review this nominee.

I am confident there will be a respectful confirmation process....

I certainly have some concerns at this point, but my hope is Georgia conservatives will reserve judgment until more is known about Judge Sotomayor’s legal views, judicial record and qualifications.

Until there is a complete review of Judge Sotomayor’s record, Georgia conservatives will avoid knee-jerk judgments – which is in stark contrast to how liberals responded to the Judge Roberts and Alito nominations.
