John Oxendine's view on the issues facing Georgia

Life is a Precious Gift From Our Creator.

I will use the power of the Governor’s office to create an environment where abortion providers will not want to do business in Georgia any longer. We will enforce existing law and use the state Constitution to put Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers out of business in Georgia. Life is a precious gift from our Creator. Abortion is the taking of that precious gift, an innocent life. As Governor, I will oppose abortion at any point of gestation. Our support for life should be supplemented by an amendment to the Georgia Constitution proclaiming a "paramount right to life".

We must further strengthen our pro-life principles by ensuring that tax dollars are never allowed to fund abortions, abortion research, or any activities which encourage abortion including those carried out by our school based clinics.

My administration will back the bi-partisan House Resolution 536 which seeks to proclaim in our constitution that "the right to life is the paramount and most fundamental right of a person."

As Governor, I will promote the passage of this resolution as well as an Advanced Directive law, the Georgia Abortion Complication Reporting Act, and a Human Cloning Ban. My administration will oppose all forms of research where living human embryos are destroyed.

Not only must we remain vigilant for the lives of the unborn, but we must also seek ways to protect the lives of our citizens who are no longer able to protect themselves. As Governor, my administration will support the Human Dignity Act, also known as the Georgia Starvation and Dehydration of Persons with Disabilities Prevention Act.

Government should support policies that facilitate the adoption process, thus making it easier to place children with eligible couples. As Governor, I will promote and reinforce policies to this effect.

National Issue
written by Sean, November 29, 2009
While I do admire that you willingly voice your opinion on the issue of pro-life referendums, this is a National issue that was upheld by the Supreme Court as being the sole choice of the woman involved. Any use of pro-life platforming is seriously misleading to the voters of the State of Georgia due to the fact that if you were to be elected Governor, you would have just as much power to overturn the Supreme Court's decision as any other State Politician who has used the platform to attempt to sway votes, and that is no power at all.
Why do so many politicians say "pro-life" in an attempt to win votes when all it really amounts to is a governmental control over what a woman can or can not do with her body. Forcing a woman by use of laws to carry to term a baby that she knows she is incapable of caring for, for whatever reason(s), is just wrong. Many children born to mothers in such situations end up in foster care where often times they are shuffled from home to home and are also often the victims of various abuses.
