John Oxendine's view on the issues facing Georgia

Tax Reform

Create a Modern, 21st Century Tax Code for Georgians

Enforcing fiscal responsibility and trimming our State’s budget are important because of the detrimental impact excessive spending can have on jobs and economic development. In addition to doing more with less, state government must improve its tax relationship with residents and businesses.

My proposal for establishing a 21st Century tax code in Georgia follows two principles:

 - Eliminating Unnecessarily Burdensome Taxes – Including the State Income Tax

 - Minimizing the Tax Burden on Individuals and Businesses and Provide Incentives for Private Sector Success

As Governor, I pledge to work with fellow Governors from around the country to generate additional momentum for overhauling the nation’s tax code with the Fair Tax.
